An enhanced CitySprint, leading the UK’s SameDay industry

Back in August I wrote a blog about the challenges and excitement of making acquisitions. Well, here I am picking up on the same thread because, I am thrilled to say, we’ve just entered into two agreements which put us on track to make our fourth and fifth acquisitions in the past twelve months: we are to acquire the courier operations of two fantastic businesses – Lewis Day and Medical Services Limited (formerly known as Medical Couriers).

This is a tremendously exciting time for the business. These two acquisitions signal a major milestone in our strategy to add further scale and reach to our national business, building on the integration of three regional firms earlier in the year. Most importantly these acquisitions will give us the ability to meet our customers’ needs with even more efficiency and flexibility than we already do. If they didn’t, we wouldn’t be doing them.

When I wrote my earlier piece on the ‘acquisition trail’, I endeavoured to outline some of the core elements involved in ensuring a successful acquisition. I have kept these at front of my mind as I and my team have worked hard over the past few months to ensure the process is as smooth as possible.

There is a lot of work to do over the next few months (hence this is a shorter blog) as we begin the gradual migration of the new brands to CitySprint. During this period, we’ll be focused on maintaining a smooth operation, so existing and new CitySprint customers will continue to receive the highest possible levels of service. One of the first changes customers will notice will be the introduction of new uniform and vehicle livery.

I look forward to updating you further on this journey in the coming months and giving you more insight into how we intend to continue to set ourselves apart from our competitors.

In the meantime, if you get the chance, have a look at two short videos about the acquisitions - one about Lewis Day and one about the courier operations of Medical Services Limited. Hopefully these will provide some useful additional detail on what we are doing and the positive difference it will make to our clients and business.
